The Amazing Race in London

It was a beautiful day today in London. The temperature high of the day was around 65 degrees and a bit windy at times. Since we arrived late last night we didn’t have a chance to book a tour for today in advance. At breakfast this morning in our hotel, The Adare Hotel, we were telling one of the other hotel guests that we weren’t sure as to what we were going to do today. Since he knows the area, he suggested, since the hotel is so close to many tourist attractions and since it was a beautiful day, to take a walk down Hyde Park along the lake and then we’ll come across Harrod’s Department store, Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abby. So that is just what we did and loved every minute of it. Except we didn’t stop walking around after visiting Westminster Abby. We kept walking down past Big Ben, saw and rode the Eye of London (which is a huge Ferris wheel that is right on The Thames River and overlooks the whole city of London. What a great opportunity for me to take pictures today. And I took close to 200 pictures. I’m in the process of setting up an account with Ofoto.com to link to this site. When I do, I’ll post our pictures. We also visited St. Paul’s Cathedral, saw the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace, which was interesting and headed to China town for some dinner.



After that we were too pooped to do much else since most of the day we traveled by foot except toward the end of the day we took the underground lines. It’s amazing how easy it is to use London’s Underground system compared to NYC’s Metro Subway system. We were amazed at how much we saw today on foot. I told Robert that I felt like we were on the Amazing Race today since we did and saw so much in one day. The most memorable part of today was when Robert kept calling me Mummy throughout the day. Of course he was pronouncing it like the English people here. We noticed many differences in the way these English people express themselves and communicate. Here are some of the terms or phrases that we heard today: Mind your head (Watch your head), or Mind your step (watch your step), Lift (Elevator), Lile (little), Mum (Mom), Cheerio (Goodbye). It was an absolute stunningly lovely day.



Everything we’ve purchased here in London is very expensive. To give you an example, we paid 12 pounds or about $24.00 for 2 sandwiches, 1 bottled water, 1 juice and one slice of carrot cake for lunch today. After we arrived back at our hotel this evening, we walked down the street to get some ice cream. For 2 bowls of homemade ice cream, which was very good, with a little bit of whipped cream and 2 bottles of water, we paid 9 pounds or $18.00. Thank goodness we’ll only be here for a few days.



Tomorrow we are going to book a tour possibly to visit the Windsor Castle, Stone Hedge and The Baths. Signing off for now. We’re exhausted. We walked all over London today and our feet, legs and back are feeling it right now. Robert and I were talking about how much we walked today and we both agreed that this is like training week before we go to Ukraine for our children. From what we hear, you walk quite a lot when you are in Ukraine. So we’ll be ready to roll once Friday comes…this is just a warm up session. We hope all is well with everyone at home. We Made it to London! Yippie!

We made it to London, safe and sound. It was a long day traveling and now approximately 1:00am London time. I woke up this morning at 3:30am anxiously awaiting the beginning of our adoption journey. I was wide awake and Robert was still asleep so I just laid awake and started praying and thanking God for His goodness. Robert woke up about 4:00am even though our alarm was set for 4:30am. Once we got dressed and on our way to the hotel we noticed how most people that were waiting for the shuttle had just one or two little bags and here we were with these two large stuffed to the gills duffle bags that weighs a ton and two backpacks. When the shuttle arrived to take all of us to the airport, of course since everyone else had little bags, they were able to hop right on to the shuttle. Robert and I just looked at each other wondering if we were going to fit on the shuttle with our luggage after everyone else got on board. Well, we were the last to board and it was barely standing room only. When we checked our luggage we barely made it under the weight requrements. Praise God, we didn't have to pay any extra fees. Our one bag weighed 69.3lbs and the other weighed 70.2lbs. We just made the 70lb/per bag limit. WHEW! Airport security was a breeze. The only thing that they looked at more in depth of ours was our backpack with our laptop and electronics. They used this ionized scanner to check it out and of course released us to move on ahead. We then grabbed a bite to eat and boarded our plane around 8:15am. As soon as we boarded the airplane my stomach turned to knots. I wasn’t feeling nervous or anxious, I think it was the strong coffee and green tart apple I ate. Our plane departed from Newark about 40 minutes late due to there were 20 other planes ahead of us waiting on the runway for take off. We sat next to this lady, Ruth who was from Australia and was meeting a friend in London to go backpacking across Eastern Europe until September. Sounds good to me. I guess that is kind of like what we’ll be doing once we get to Ukraine, except we will be adopting our Ukrainian Angels in the process. YIPPIE!
As we were descending we saw Big Ben and the London Eye. Well the flight went well and were glad to be back on the ground again. Robert and I were both surprised how easy it was going through customs in Heathrow London Airport. They asked us a couple of questions and we told them we were spending a few days here on Holiday…as they call a Vacation and that was it. While we were waiting for our shuttle to take us to our hotel, we noticed these police with bullet proof vests, a couple of hand guns on their belts and they were holding machine guns as they were patrolling the airport like they were looking for someone. OK…I was ready to get out of their after that scene. We are not in America anymore. It looked as if they were looking for someone in particular and were ready to start shooting. Time for us to make like a tree and LEAVE. Thank goodness our shuttle arrived to take us shortly after that scene. We are now settled in our hotel and just enjoyed what London England is known for which is their fish and chips and very good I might add. We’re not quite sure what we will visit first, but we’ll keep you updated.

We're on our way!

Well, today is the day that we leave start our Adoption Journey.

We are currently in the Newark area at the Holiday Inn settling in before our flight tomorrow morning. I just figured out how to get on-line from outside our home.


Our immediate families visited us yesterday while we were actively packing and getting the house prepared to leave it for a month. My mom will be staying at our house so that is a big relief. Saying goodbye to them for a month was heartbreaking. Especially our mothers. We all got teary eyed and embraced each other like we would never see each other again. At least I was...Robert was the stronger of the two of us. I will miss hearing my mom's voice as much as I usually talk to her. She is a special lady in my life and we are the best of friends.

This morning Robert and I woke up when the alarm went off and looked at each other in bed and smiled, because we knew we were going to start our journey to adopt our children. How excited we are.

Our pastors at church called us up to the pulpit for them and the congregation to pray over us for safe, smooth and peaceful travels. Many friends at church gave us their blessings as well. Thank you all for keeping us and our children in your prayers for safe travels, health, wisdom, direction and a peaceful joyful journey in adopting our children.

Thank You All For Your Love and Prayers!

Robert and I are so thankful for all of our family and friends' joy and excitement for us and our new family to be. Our family and friends are just as excited as we are and it warms our hearts to receive all of your love, encouragement, support, prayers and generous gifts you all have blessed our family with. The love and supernatural favor of God has been poured out upon us through all of you and we thank you for all of it.



Our family has been so wonderful throughout this whole process and have helped in so many ways. My mom, Mama Sherry, has given us so much of her heartfelt excitement, encouragement, gifts to help with our adoption, has helped me with registering at Babies R Us and Target, help with taking care of our home, bills and plants while we are away in Ukraine and has made some outfits to give to the orphans in Ukraine. Your love and encouragement has brought so much joy to our lives. For those of you that don't know, our children will be the first grandchildren for my mom so she is bubbling over with excitment and joy as we are in becoming first time parents. My brother, David helped me with some helpful hints on updating this website and had his friend, Karl, who is a Ukrainian native, now American Citizen, loan us some Ukrainain published books and magazines on Ukraine and the countries history to prepare us for our travels and to give us some insight on the lifestyle, people and surroundings. What a blessing that was to read more on the history of Ukraine and to get some preliminary scenes of Ukraine before we travel.



Robert's parents, have also been a blessing to us with all of their love, support encouragement and prayers. Robert's mom, Mama Maria, back when we were going through fertility treatments would give me my daily shot in the derrière whenever Robert was at work and couldn't do it. Her encouragement and prayers have touched our hearts throughout these past several years planning for our family. I also remember when God first laid on our hearts to adopt our children, Robert's parents were one of the first people we discussed it with. Our conversation with both of them regarding the subject of adoption was a heartfelt and memorable one that helped encourage us to move forward with the adoption. Maria McMahon, Robert's sister, has graciously helped me with registering as well, since I didn't have a clue as where to start. How would I know what brands and products are reccomended and good to use if I never used them before. Robert's Grandma, who is near and dear to my heart, as well as Robert's heart, has given us her love, excitement and has kept us in her prayers for a safe and speedy adoption journey. She is anxiously awaiting the arrival of our new bundles of joy like the rest of us and I am so looking forward in our children meeting and getting to know their Great Grandma or "babushka" which is the Ukrainian word for grandma. =)



Besides getting ready for our adoption journey, we've been blessed with a family barbeque over at our cousin's Debbie & Don Bingeman's home with many other family members including my Mom (Mama Sherry) and sister, Marli, Aunt Marie and Uncle Kenny, our cousins Wendy & Bruce, Jeff & Tammy, Brian & Harmony and of course all of their children there to celebrate our upcoming adoption. We were also blessed with a celebration send off from the Shabach Singles at Victory Christian Fellowship Church, was treated to a homemade brunch and fellowship from our dear friend Jerri Swann in her home. I also thank God for our friend, Kathy Jakubowski who has been a dear friend in both Robert and I's life and is always sowing into our lives, marriage and now into our family in one way or another. We also met with our pastors from our church, Pastors Gary & Faye Whetstone from Victory Christian Fellowship where they gave us some wisdom and insight on traveling and living in Ukraine (since they've been there on missions trips in the past), prayed with us and loaned us a copy of the bible school, "The School of Biblical Studies" www.gwwm.com (since we'll have a lot of free time on our hands while in Ukraine). Today, the company that I work for, Catelli Brothers Veal and Lamb company www.catellibrothers.com gave me a baby shower and farewell luncheon celebration. What a tremendous blessing all of my family at Catelli Brothers have been to me in the past 3 years since I've worked there. It is such a family atmosphere in our office and I thank God for each one of them. Many of them have touched my life and heart in so many ways. For example, I could always count on my boss and owner of the company, Tony Catelli, to make me smile with telling a joke or demonstrating a practical joke towards someone else of course. He has given me the freedom to do whatever I needed to do to plan for our children either for the adoption or when we were going through fertility treatments with encouragement and compassion, which has touched my heart with overwhelming gratitude. His support has meant a lot to me for there are not many employers out there that are willing to allow their employees to come and go for doctors' appointments or adoption appointments to plan for a family like he did for us. He has also blessed us with the farewell/baby shower party today and I thank him, Gorge & Jim Catelli for their ever so generous gift. All of the rest of my family at Catelli Brothers also shocked me and Robert with their love and generous gifts of love, the photo album with pictures of President Andrew Jackson throughout and Dumbo"The Flying Elephant" and his care package of goodies. What ingenius ideas they are filled with. My family at Catelli Brothers holds a special place in my heart and I must say if Chris has misplaced something while we're in Ukriane tell him he can't blame it on me anymore. =) VIRY GOOD! You know I'm only teasing you Chris. You know I love ya and will miss you yelling across the office for me saying....UUUUHHHHH ...pause.......pause......KARRIE!!! You know Chris you keep everyone on their toes when you hold that long pause after you say UUUUUHHHH, not knowing who's name you are going to call after it....everyone is just looking at each other like...ok who's name will he be yelling for now. =) Carol, I thank you for lending your ear many times and friendship and love you've given me. Your sweetness and love for everyone at Catelli Brothers is truely golden. Now you can understand why we are so thankful to God and sentimental for giving us such a wonderful and generous group of family and friends in our lives. We are so blessed to have such a wonderful family helping us, loving us, encouraging us, praying for us and our children, and that are filled with such excitement in the new soon to be additions to our family. Robert and I thank you all again for everything that you've done and the outpouring of God's love, favor and wisdom that you have shared with us. We pray that your seeds sown will be multiplied back to you 100 fold. May God continue to pour out His love and blessings upon your lives as well.

Updated Documents Have Been Approved

We just got word from our translator that our documents that we had to have updated were translated into Russian, submitted to the NAC, approved and filed with the rest of our documents. Whoo...Whoo!!! What a load off of our minds. We will bring extra originals of all our documents for precautionary reasons, but I am confident that all of our documents are all together and ready for our arrival. =)



Our Facilitator, Julia also told us who our in-country translator will be. Her name is Ira and she is very experienced in working with adoptive families in helping them to complete their adoptions. We also have an in-country lawyer, who's name is Valentina who will be our in-country coordinator in the Kiev, Ukraine region. I hear from other adoptive families that both Valentina and Ira go above and beyond the call of duty for the families that they work for and get the job done as quickly as they can.



We were told that Ira, our translator, will be waiting for us in the airport with a sign with our names on it. She will then take us to our driver and from their we will go to our hotel in Kiev, Ukraine. Ira will be the one whom will be with us for the most part of our adoption journey, since she will be translating for us throughout the process.



Since we will arrive in Ukraine a few days before our appointment we will have time to tour Kiev and record some memories for our children. Kiev is a major metropolitan city and has many old architectual design buildings, churches, open markets (like a Cowtown..or as my mother-in-law calls it "Out-of-town Shop"). So there will be a lot to see in Kiev before we meet with the NAC on Tuesday, July 26th.



OOOHHH it's getting so exciting! It's funny, because I'm usually the one purchasing little toys and educational items for when our children arrive home and yesterday Robert showed me what he purchased(the 1st toy he purchased himself) which is a nerf football. Yes, Robert is getting excited to have a son or two of our own. Since we don't know the age of our children yet, he has been telling me and our families not to purchase anything for the children until we get back from Ukraine. I was so tickled to see that he purchased the nerf football to take with us to Ukraine. My honey's excitement is bubbling over like it is with all of us.



Boy how the time has flown these past couple of months. We are so looking forward to meeting and getting to know our forever children. God is so AWESOME! He is working everything out for good exceedingly, abundantly above all that we can ask or think.

18 Days Before We Leave

The time is coming near. Only 18 days before we leave for London and then 26 days until our appointment with the NAC in Ukraine. We are getting more and more excited about becoming parents.




Robert and I have been extremely busy getting everything together for our trip and with the house for when we return. The past few weeks we have finished renovating our bathroom, landscaped our front yard, rugged the stairwell going up the the 4th bedroom in our house, painted the stairwell, renovated & painted 2 closets, hung some closet doors, assembled 3 radiator covers, booked our hotel at Newark Airport for the night before we leave, and picked up the rest of our travel supplies at Walmart and finished setting up the children's rooms. We still have clean up, organizing and child proofing the house to do. We're almost done with everything, Thank God!



It's so hard to describe the excitement that we have in becoming parents. I am so amazed at how much I love our children already and I don't even know what they look like. God has already conceived them in our hearts and knows which children He has for us. I believe that He will direct our paths and lead us to the children He has intended for us when we have our appointment in Ukraine. This whole process has certainly been a walk of faith for sure. In the book of Hebrews 11:1 in the bible it says "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." So even though we haven't seen our children yet we know and believe that we are already parents of two healthy children. =)

There Is No Substitute To A Father's Love

Happy Father’s Day to all you Dad’s out there.



I’d like to say that there is no substitute for a father’s love. I’ve noticed over the years when planning for the arrival of friends and family’s babies that the expectant mother gets all of the attention and the father gets overlooked. If it wasn’t for the father, the child wouldn’t be growing in the mother’s belly. Our fathers are the ones we go to for wisdom, guidance, encouragement and protection. We as children, whole heartedly believe our fathers can do anything and will always come through for us in any circumstance in our lives because they always do. A father’s presence in a home is greatly respected by his children (that’s why my mom always said, “Just wait until your father get’s home”), and when a he’s not there he is greatly missed.



It’s been 26 years this month since my dad has been gone to be with our heavenly Father and let me just say he is greatly missed by all of us. There is simply no substitute of his love and presence he has brought to our family and has left in our hearts. My dad was a person of great love and affection to all of us and expressed his love for us by joking around, wrestling with us, teasing us, teaching us, encouraging us, being patient, supporting our family and disciplining us when needed. Many times my dad would come home from work and would ask me to rub his horrendously stinky feet (believe me that is an understatement). We would go back and forth and finally I’d give in and hold my breath the entire time just to make his feet feel better. Oh how I wish to be able to smell his feet again. =) Many people that knew my father say that I am a lot like him, however, let me just say…My feet don’t stink like his use to. Thank God for that.



Over the past 6 ½ years I have been blessed with another father and that is my father-in-law. He is a blessing in our lives and is loved dearly by Robert and I. A man of great wisdom and love for his family and has loved me as his own daughter since the day I met him. Since I take everything to heart, I am very touched by his love and acceptance into the Millilo family and am glad that I have him as my second dad. We love you dad very much and there is simply no substitute of your love and presence in our lives. Happy Father’s Day!

Documents on the way to Ukraine & House updates

Yippie! Our updated documents are finished being apositiled (certified by the state) and are now on their way to Ukraine to be translated and submitted with the rest of our approved documents. I pray and believe that our updated documents will be approved by the National Adoption Center and submitted with the rest of our approved documents the first time because we have supernatural favor in Jesus name.



Now that our documents are out of my hands and being approved by the NAC in Ukraine, Robert and I can concentrate more on finishing all of the projects in our house we started. Since we finished painting and rugging our 4th bedroom we moved the guest bedroom furniture upstairs and set up the bedroom. I since replaced the rest of the ceiling tiles and Robert and I replaced the closet doors to finish the bedroom. WOW...what a difference time and effort can make to a room that was previously dark paneling with bare plywood floors.



We also painted the baby's room closet and touched up some of the trim work. Robert put one of the crib/toddler bed's together. It looks so nice! Last year we bought 2 matching 2 years old crib/toddler beds at a yard sale with bedding for both and Winnie the Pooh theme rug, mobiles, wall hangings, light switch covers, curtains, pictures and a nightlight all for about $225.00. When the former owners of the cribs found out that we were adopting 2 children, the lady dug out more of the pieces to her Winnie the Pooh theme out of her garage and kept adding to the pile of accessories all for the same price they were going to charge us for just the 2 cribs. When Robert and I got in our van to go home that day with our blessings from above we just looked at each other in amazement because God had fullfilled our prayer and goal in mind for the day Exceedingly and Abundantly more than what we could have asked for or thought of ourselves....especially because the cribs are good quality cribs made by Baby Italia. I'm getting so excited to see at least one of the children's rooms come together. Our next project will be our other child's room. Even though we did get bedding for both cribs in Winnie the Pooh theme, depending on the age and gender of our older child would depend on if they would need a toddler bed and what to decorate and what theme to go with. So we will keep that room simple for now and just set up the toddler bed and finish the basics of the room until we get back from Ukraine with our children. Well, it's getting late so I'm signing off for now.

Cousins Anxiously Await For Their New Cousins

Tonight, Karen (my sister-in-law) asked me to babysit our neices, Nicole(11) and Christina(7) and our nephew, Billy(9). So I spent the evening with them, chauffering the girls back and forth to their dance classes and then out to McDonalds for some ice cream. It was a fun evening with them as always and I'm finding out how inquisitive they are in regards to their soon to be cousins. They want to know as much about them as possible. Billy is hoping for a boy cousin so he would have another boy in the family to play with. Nicole, I think in someways she would like to have a female cousin her own age to pal around with although I know she would be quite happy with another baby in the family. Christina, I think wants to have a girl cousin to play with.



As we were driving in the car to dance class, they were helping me think of names to name our children. Boy did we all have fun with that one. That kept them busy for a while. I told them that we'll have to select 2 boys names (incase we adopt 2 boys) and 2 girls names (incase we adopt 2 girls). Some of the names they suggested that I liked were Robert Jr., Joshua, Dean, Austin, Daniel, Luke, Alex, Aaron. Some of the girl names that they suggested that I liked were Macy, Emily, Olivia, Emma, Cassandra, Melody, Britney, and Lily. Well they named a lot more, however, there are too many to list.



I explained to them that even though their new cousins might be talking...that they won't be able to understand them at first because they'll be speaking either Russian or Ukrainian. I explained to be patient with them because it will be just as frustrating for you to understand them as it will be for them to understand you in the beginning. I gave them an example and by having a conversation with Nicole by me replying to her question in a language she couldn't understand. She looked at me like I had lost my mind and was frustrated that I didn't respond to her question in English. Then she asked me to answer her again and again I replied in another language that she didn't understand. The whole time Nicole and I were conversing, Billy and Christina were intently listening to our conversation with a smerk on their faces in the back seat of the car. I finally told them in English of course, that is what could happen upon their arrival home until they learn the language. I told the kids that they are going to be just as frustrated as you to understand you as you will be with trying to understand them. So if they don't understand you, help them learn English by being patient with them and teaching them slowly.



All in all, it was a fun night and I'm realizing more and more how grown up Nicole, Billy and Christina have become. I enjoyed their company tonight very much and am happy to see how interested and anxious they are in regards to their soon to be new cousins.

Everything is coming together

I am so excited! We've gotten so much accomplished in the last week. All of our documents have been completed that we needed to get updated. HORRAY!! We received our statewide criminal clearance letters, agency license and doctors forms from our physical. I broke down in tears of joy when I was on the phone with the doctors office and I heard the good news that our doctors forms were completed. OH, how relieved and thankful to God we are for our paperwork being completed. Thank you for all of your prayers. We now have to get the paperwork notarized and apositilled by the state in Trenton, NJ and then sent to Ukraine to get our paperwork translated and then submitted with the rest of our paperwork before we have our appointment on July 26th. Now you can understand why we were getting concerned about getting our paperwork being completed.



We also finished painting our 4th bedroom and laid the carpeting. Now we can concentrate on fixing up our children's rooms.The plumber and Robert finished renovating our shower and surround in our bathroom. Robert and I also attended a CPR & Choking class for infants and children. This class was better than any other CPR class that I've had in the past. It provided a lot of hands on practice for an extended period of time, just like if you were in a real situation. I would recommend it to anyone. It was through Virtua Healthcare in Voorhees, NJ. Robert's Locks of Love

About a year and a half ago Robert started growing his hair to donate to Locks of Love Foundation www.locksoflove.org where they receive donated hair to make into wigs for children that have cancer. Yes, today was the big day to get his hair cut....WHOOO, WHOOO!! Robert donated 10 inches of his spiral brown curls and is happy to have his clean cut look back. And so am I!!! Now I have my BIG HUNK of a MAN back!! YIPPIE!!=)



This was the first time that Robert has grown his hair past a few inches, that so many of his family members gave him such a hard time about it. Everytime he saw them they told him who he looked like. One day they called him a Mountain Man, another day it was, a Rebel, another day it was Antonio Banderez, another was Sean Claude Vandam and the list goes on. Even though I wasn't fond of the idea of Robert growing his hair long in the beginning, I supported his efforts. I kept imagining the look of surprise and gratefulness on the child's face who receives their first wig and what a difference that wig will make in that child's self esteem and confidence. I know I would be excited if that were me receiving my first wig.



It's funny how people judge you by the way you look. We moved into a different home last year and around that time Robert's hair had already grown about 5-6 inches. Well our new neighbors seemed to keep their distance from Robert. In a conversation that I had with both our neighbor and her daughter she told me that she donated her hair that she recently got cut off to Locks of Love. Of course I immediately responded and said that is what Robert is doing. Both her and her daughter looked at each other with a sigh of relief and said in a surprised tone "OOOOOOOHHH"!!...now it all made sense to them......Their "new" neighbor was NOT a crazed maniac after all.



Long or short hair, my babez heart is still the same one I fell in love with...a generous giving man who has a heart for others...even if he has never met the person.

Preparing for our Babies

Robert and I have been actively preparing for our trip to Ukraine and getting the house ready for our new additions to our family. We are in the process of renovating our walk-up attic into a 4th bedroom, which will be our guest bedroom. I gave the attic two coats of primer paint and one coat of a sage green.



I still have to finish the other half of the attic with the green and then we can rug it this weekend and set it up as a bedroom. Once we do that we can move some of the bedroom furniture in the two kids rooms into the guest room where it belongs and then finish off our kids bedrooms. Robert put up some trim molding in the attic after I painted it, which really gave the walls a finished look. Our bathroom is also under renovations right now until the plumber shows up next week to finish the job. I have also been busy working on our little boys' afghan. I am about half way done. Our little girls' afghan I finished last year (which was my first afghan I ever made...thanks to Mama Sherry teaching me). Robert got a book on London that had some maps and hotel reviews in it, which was nice to see how close the underground transportation is to the hotels we are looking into. We will be reserving our hotel probably sometime tomorrow...so that will be done. I've also been reading the book "Supernanny" that my mom gave us for our anniversary. Another thing we've been doing to prepare for our trip is to record on our DVD player movies and sitcoms off of the television so we will have some English TV shows to watch when we have some free time....which there is a lot of from what we hear when we are not visiting the children. I'm sure we won't be just watching tv during our free time, that is why we're bringing some travel games, cards, books, crotcheting & cross stitch projects to do as well as journaling to keep you all informed as well as to create a memory book for our children. We did receive one of our documents that we had to update which was our adoption agency license. We are now waiting on our statewide criminal clearance letters (which we should receive either this week or next week) and our doctors forms from our physicals we had in March (which should be done real soon as well)...I HOPE. We still have to send all of our updated documents up to Trenton, NJ to get them apositilled and then sent to Ukraine to be translated and submitted with the rest of our documents BEFORE we have our appointment at the NAC. Please pray and believe with us that our paperwork is done correctly and SOON so we can send them off to Ukraine before we leave in July. I know I must sound like I'm getting a little on the nervous side about our paperwork and all, however, I have to cast my cares daily over unto the Lord regarding all of this....because the victory is ours because the battle is HIS...not mine. Yeah....as you can tell...I have to keep telling myself that and speaking it forth, because yes, that is the only thing right now that concerns me is our paperwork. This whole adoption has been in God's hands since day one and we have truely had Supernatural Favor in all of the process so far, so I just trust that the Lord will complete His good work exceedingly and abundantly above all that we can ask or think and we thank God for His goodness and mercy towards us and our family and friends each and every day of our lives.

Happy Mother's Day to all Mom's out there!

We had a wonderful time today spending Mother's day with our Moms and family. We are both truely blessed with two beautiful mothers, Mama Sherry (my mom) and Mama Maria (Robert's mom). We are both very close with our moms and have a wonderful relationship with them. The two women that have influenced our lives the most and molded us into the people we are today. The two people that would do anything for us to help us suceed at anything that we set out to do....the person who picked us up when we fell....the person who kissed our booo boos, wiped our tears away and turned our frowns upside. We thank God for both of our mothers and would like to say........For all the times you stood by us, For all the truth that you helped us see, For all the joy you brought to our lives, For all the wrong that you made right, For every dream you made come true, For all the LOVE we have for you.......We're grateful for each day, Because we LOVE you both so very much. Ok....Ok....I'll stop singing. Yes, we truely love our moms dearly and I believe that if I can be half of a mother as both of our moms have been to us, I know I will be a great mom to our children. Duet. 5:16 - Honour thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

Our 5 Year Wedding Anniversary!!

Wow! It's hard to believe it's been 5 years since Robert and I have been married. Time flies when you are having fun. We will be going out to dinner tomorrow evening and next weekend we will be going away for the weekend with my mom, my brother David and my sister, Marli to Lancaster, PA (amish & quilt country) to have a combined anniversary weekend and to celebrate my mom's birthday. David & I wanted to do something special for my mom's birthday so we are going to a bed and breakfast in Bird-in-Hand, PA and spend the weekend going in and out of true amish(on their farms) quilt shops. It should be a fun weekend. We'll see how Robert and David deal with all the quilt shops that we will be going to. It should be interesting anyways.

A TRIPLE BLESSING!

Hooray! We've FINALLY decided on when we will be leaving for Ukraine since we just purchased our plane tickets. Thank God! I'm glad we purchased our tickets so our seats are confirmed on our flights! That's a load off of my mind. Robert and I were going back and forth looking at different options and decided that since we were going on a 10 hour plane ride in coach it would be best to layover somewhere to stretch our legs a bit. Well, it went from stretching our legs A BIT to stretching them for 3 1/2 days in London before we head on to Ukraine. Sounds good to me!!! YIPPIE!! I've never been to Europe before much less London! We might as well since we are going to be there.....you never know when we'll get the chance again. We're going to visit "MY PEOPLE" as Robert calls it (since I'm mostly English). We'll have to visit my "Aunt Elizabeth Windsor....just kidding....she's not my aunt even though my maiden name is awefully close to the spelling of the Royal Families (Winser). After visiting London for a few days we'll head out to Ukraine on Friday, July 22, 2005. We'll arrive in Kiev, Ukraine at 2:45pm in the afternoon (Ukraine is 7 hours ahead of us here in NJ...so it will be 7:45am in EST when we arrive in Ukraine). Our translator will be meeting us at the airport with a driver to take us to our hotel and probably to get something to eat for dinner. Since our appt will not be until the next Tuesday, July 26th (4 days from arrival in Ukraine) we'll hopefully get to tour Kiev (major city and capital of Ukraine) to record pictures and memories for our children and go to church at our pastors' friends church in Kiev. Once we have our appointment on Tuesday with the NAC and select our children we will be anxious to leave Kiev to meet our children in whatever town in Ukraine they are located in. As I'm sure you can understand. That is why we are arriving so early in Ukraine as well as to get adjusted to the time difference before our meeting with the NAC. How exciting...a TRIPLE Blessing...2 kids and touring London with my Babez (Robert's nickname) for a few days. Thank you Jesus!!

91 Days and Counting!!

Yes, that's right we are counting the days until we are in Ukraine meeting with the National Adoption Center. OK...OK...we are on the WEEEEE bit EXCITED side so just bear with us. If you see our heads spinning or have a glazed look in our eyes with a smerk on our face ...you'll know why. There is so much to do between now and the time we leave for Ukraine it can be overwhelming. We have plane tickets to purchase, documents to update (any document over 1 year old when we meet with the NAC in July needs to be updated...such as our fingerprints for statewide criminal clearance, physicals, agency license, doctors license), travel items to purchase, over-the-counter meds for us and the children (just in case we need them while in Ukraine), Medical Evacuation Insurance to purchase, International Cell Phones, Child-proofing the house, Finish children's bedrooms, meet and select a Pediatrician, check into our healthcare coverage while in Ukraine, Coordinate with Dr. Yuri in Ukraine to meet and examine the children while in Ukraine, learn some Russian and Ukrainian, purchase thank you gifts for our Ukrainian Adoption team of people helping us in Ukraine, attend a child/infant CPR & First Aid class, Creating a Registry at Babies R Us, Toys R Us and Amazon.com, cook and freeze some meals for when we return and many other little things that I can't think of right this moment. OK...now you understand what I mean when I said if you see our heads spinning. So many important TO DOs before we leave for Ukraine. In the midst of thinking about all we have to do, I find myself daydreaming and wondering what our children are doing now and wondering how old are they and what gender are they and hoping and praying for their health, safety, nourishment, emotional well-being and for God to comfort them and reassure them that their Momma & Papa are on their way to meet them and bring them home and love them forever. It's going to be an emotional and joyful summer...I can see it now. I just hope I don't flood the orphanage with my tears of joy! I guess I'd better put an abundance of TISSUES on my list to purchase for our trip as well and WATERPROOF Mascara!!!! My Goodness...I can't forget that either!!! Hehehe!

We Have Some EXCITING News!!!!

Robert and I would like to share with you all in our excitement for becoming parents of 2 children that we'll be adopting in Ukraine on July 26, 2005. Our Ukrainian Adoption journey will begin on July 26, 2005 since that is when we have an appointment scheduled with the Ukrainian National Adoption Center. We will be in Ukraine for approximately 21-30 days to finalize the legal aspect of the adoption and then we'll be bringing home our children. YIPPIEE!!! PRAISE GOD!! HALLELUJAH!!! As you can tell we are doing back flips right now and are busy getting things in order for travel and child proofing the house. I feel like we're pregnant in a sense since the emotions and hormones are starting to flow. =)

When we are in country, we will be keeping in touch with everyone mostly by email. So if you would like to be on our group emails to keep a status of our adoption and/or know of any other family or friends email addresses that would like to be included on our updates while in-country please email me their email addresses to add to my group list of emails so we can take them with us when we travel.

As for now and when we travel, we are asking for all of you to keep us and our children lifted up in prayer for safety, peace, wisdom, supernatural favor, direction and for 2 healthy children under the both under the age of 4 years old.

The Orphans in Ukraine, THANK YOU!!

Thank you for making our Christmas a dream come true!

A sincere heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone that donated toys and clothes to the orphans in Ukraine during our toy drive for Christmas this year. In a combined effort, there were close to 100 orphans whom received a Christmas gift of love this season just from what we sent off. Some of the items that were donated were Barbie dolls, match box cars, nerf footballs, nerf basketballs with hoops, baby dolls, dump trucks, fire engines, kick balls, puzzles, developmental toys, art supplies, and many more. I sent off 10 large boxes filled with all sorts of toys and items for children of all ages to Life 2 Orphans (http://www.life2orphans.com/) to contribute to their Wishing on an Angel – Christmas for Orphans event. Once they receive all of their donations, they take them with them around the holidays and conduct a Christmas party with food, juice and treats to eat along with a present or two per child in many orphanages in Ukraine. Here is a personal thank you that I pulled off of Life 2 Ophans website from the children from Internat Mykolaivka Orphanage for all the donations that they received: “Dear Friends, An enormous thank you to you all, that all of you do not forget about us. Your presents give us such joy and warm our little hearts. We are now able to understand that there are people on this earth who are openly ready to help children who don’t have any parents. We wish you all luck, health and that the fire in your great souls never burns out. With love, the students” Here are a couple of other thank you notes from a couple of orphanage directors that witness your generosity. “Your sincere help made life of our children brighter, more colorful and joyful. Albeit most important is your cordiality and love that makes their small hearts warm, give a sunbeam of light and hope despite all distances. We wish that the little flame of goodness and charity never fails in your soul. May your good deeds fill up your home with happiness and love. God’s blessing to you at all times.” Another orphanage director wrote, “The children will grow healthier and happier, will learn to fantasize and use logical thinking, while curiosity will become the first step on their way of exploring the world and becoming harmoniously developed personalities by means of these toys.” Thank you all for shining your light upon the children in Ukraine.
