2 More Blessings From Above! It's Official!

2 More Blessings From Above! It’s Official!

Praise the Lord! For He is Good and His Mercy Endures Forever.

We are the official parents of Steven and Evan as of today, December 3rd. Hooray! We had court today and we are excited to announce that we are Steven Thomas and Evan Daniel’s parents. Robert, Andrew, Alla and I made our way to the court house around 2:15pm today for our 2:30pm appointment. The inspector of Cherkasy, Miss Larissa was there along with the orphanage director of Steven’s orphanage, Miss Maria and the lawyer of Evan’s orphanage, along with the prosecutor, judge, and two witnesses. As we walked into the court room before everyone arrived, Andrew’s eyes got real wide when he saw this small cell like area (where criminals would sit) with bars that went up to the ceiling, and two benches inside it. He immediately went over to it and asked what is this for. I told him that is where the criminals sit so they won’t escape or hurt anyone. It was comical to hear all of the questions that Andrew asked just before court relating to the criminal cage.

I was a bit nervous and felt the emotion starting to build up inside me, however, I knew I had to keep it together for the most part since I was the one going to be answering most of the questions and explaining to the judge and everyone, why we want to adopt these children, how long have we visited them in the orphanage, where we live, our financial status, why we want to have 3 children and why we are not happy with just one child, who will help us with these children, do you know of the children’s medical history and many more. Of course I got all emotional and teary eyed when I was talking about why we want to adopt the boys in the beginning. I told them how much we love Steven and Evan already and how well they fit in our family. I also explained that Steven and Evan both play so well with Andrew and they all get along as if they’ve always been brothers and apart of our family.

The lawyer of Evan’s orphanage, the orphanage director of Steven’s orphanage, Miss Maria and the inspector of Cherkasy, Miss Larissa all had a turn to speak and they all spoke in favor of Robert and I adopting Steven and Evan into our family. We are so very happy and I am a proud Mama of our 3 sons Steven (5yr), Andrew (4yr) and Evan (3yr).

Bouncing Boys

After court we celebrate and took Alla, Miss Maria (Steven’s orphanage director) and our taxi driver out to a beautiful restaurant in town. We had the whole restaurant to ourselves since it was an early dinner. I felt like I was in a ballroom that’s how lovely it was. It was nice to get to know Miss Maria a bit more and to have some time to relax and laugh. I must say that I am very proud of how quiet and still Andrew was in the court room today and at dinner. He was very well behaved and he is doing much better at sharing the toys with his brothers.

Tomorrow, Alla is going to help us purchase the necessary clothes for the boys that we’ll need before we get home. Even though we won’t be able to take the boys out of the orphanage until after the 10 day wait we will still have about a week and a half or so before we can come home due to getting their birth certificates changed, passports, and their medical examinations for getting their visas.

Time for sleepies, therefore, Dosfidanya or Dobre Noches for now!
