Another Doctor's Visit for Andrew

Another beautiful day here in Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine. During this morning’s visit Andrew seemed like he was doing everything in slow motion and when he was waking up from his nap he wasn’t himself. It seemed like he had some trouble breathing through his stuffed up nose, so I had the doctor check him out again. He doesn’t have a fever but she mentioned that he was still congested and his nose was stuffed up still and something about his ears. I wanted to see if they could put more of the saline drops in his nose to loosen the mucus so he could breathe better. His congestion seems to be drying up, however, she wrote out a list of medications for us to pick up for him and the orphanage. It’s amazing how cheap the medication is here. For approximately 7 different medications we paid approximately $7.00 US dollars total for everything. This afternoon when we visited Andrew again we brought the medication to the doctor and she gave Andrew some drops in his ears and nose and she squirted some type of inhaler in his mouth as Robert and I held him down. He did not like it one bit. But his tears dried up quick when she was all finished. At first, Andrew was still behaving sluggish as he did this morning until about 30 minutes after the doctor gave him the medications. He seemed more himself after that and perked up after the medication took effect.

One of the other adoptive couples from Georgia (USA) has been talking a lot to us a the orphanage. Their translator up and left them in Dnipropetrovsk for the weekend by themselves after just a few days here. We’ve been helping them out and encouraging them that everything will work out with their adoption. They moved into our hotel today and we’ve been showing them around this side of town. We had dinner with them tonight and took them with us to the internet cafĂ©. In the apartment where they were staying, they had some plumbing issues and were not able to find a market near by them that carried baby food or baby clothes. It’s been nice to hang around another American couple going through adoption as well.
